Theatre Awards
Each year it became tradition to celebrate the year’s success with the annual Theatre Awards. This was a tradition started at Jefferson Middle School and carried into other schools there after. At the end of the year we came together with families, friends, community members, colleagues and more to celebrate the student’s and their successful theatrical seasons.
The awards nights included celebrating students by awarding them for their performances onstage and backstage as well as thanking and celebrating the parents. The awards nights included celebrating by bringing in catered food, handing out handmade trophies (built from the wood of the sets used that year), speeches, and videos from the years (see below for examples of videos).
The awards nights had students, parents, and volunteers vote for their top choices in various categories from Best Achievement in Acting to Best Achievement in Stage Crew. The students were always excited and thrilled to be nominated and receive their trophies and often gave meaningful speeches and thanks to everyone involved.
As well as celebrating the students we also thanked and celebrated our Stage Parents, Volunteers, and those who worked on the shows to help make them possible. This included creating thank you videos and even creating a Lifetime Achievement Award for those who helped throughout their student’s run in the theatre programs.
It was always my goal to leave everyone involved feeling appreciated and excited for the amount of work, talent, and joy that was given to audiences throughout the year.
